Bourgeois Girls Club Label Description

When she was born, she unsettled the natural balance of things, a stubborn stain, on society, that could not be scrubbed off. Society desires citizens who conform and comply, who abide to the principles of behaviour; not the Bourgeois Girls Club.

A Bourgeois girl  is a rebel, a restless runner; a spirited, sensitive, strong willed soul, who shrugs off scholarly institutions, who casts aside cooperate careers, and frowns in face of fundamentals, all in favour, of the unlikely life. She is most afraid of being controlled, of being caged, and tamed; of being spoon fed society’s propaganda, until she swallows, and accepts.

She takes the staircase, two steps at a time. She likes secret gardens and tree houses, kaleidoscopes, and the crackle of record players; pressing her nose into books, for the scent of the pages, and licking leftover cake batter from the mixer. She sometimes speaks in murmurs of falsified foreign tongues, playacts that she is an espionage agent. She is ever changing, she is WILD and FREE.

She is a dreamer and her mission if accepted is to kindle cold hearts back to feeling, to extinguish limitations, to blaze trails, to see the magic, the miracles, of the everyday; to evolve.

We are the Bourgeois Girls Club.

We are drunk on dreams, doubtless, with no sense to sober up.

Do not compromise yourself, for society; forsake the constraints that chain your spirit. And relentlessly remember, you are the only soul who can keep your dreams from coming true.

The Bourgeois girl believes she was born in the wrong time. She rejects the modern materialistic society we have become so dependent upon. She is young and youthful finding beauty and joy in the simplest things. Thus reflected in her adventurous and care free vintage-esque style. Bourgeois Girls Club embraces individuality with no two pieces ever the same, the clothes are constructed out of pre-loved garments and recreated into timeless treasures. Our philosophy is deeply threaded in that of personal style, the idea that the clothes are an opportunity to engage in life, rebel against society and self-expression.

TREND 1 - ECO WARRIOR

TREND DESCRIPTION AND JUSTIFICATION

The trend eco warrior celebrates the idea of re-usable, recyclable, innovative and sustainable design with environmental influences and connotations. Animalistic prints, khaki green and beige with accents of deep purple are at the centre of this trend. The going green trend will also focus on minimalism and the return to simplistic designs. Organic fabrics and natural fibres, recycled denim and a strong focus on quality will drive this trend. Winter 2011 will be all about maximising your wardrobes potential, proving producing clothes sustainably and ethically is no longer a style compromise for contemporary eco-designers. Fashion trends will include menswear inspired cuts for women to layers and decorative patchwork creating a rustic look Patchwork, as a decorative motif, has returned in outerwear and across denim lines.

Interior trends will also emulate strong environmental influences with the colour green proving itself as winter 2011’s “it” colour for decorating. Leaf like patterned prints, rustic wood and clean simplistic lines will be the foundations of the eco friendly urban rummager look. Natural and recyclable products and materials will emulate eco chic style, drift wood inspired furniture, stone and bamboo creating that airy outdoors inside feel. The popularity of indoor plants will also be prominent in winter 2011 interior trends with paint colours mimicking those presented in foliage and flowers.

Pivotal to the emergence of this trend is the current doom and gloom of the global economic climate, the credit crunch is affecting consumer behaviour and their spending, with a decrease in demand for high end fashion brands and people buying fewer pieces each season. Ladies would once replace their entire wardrobe each season updating their look and indulging in the must have items and making sure they were keeping up with the numerous trends sported on catwalks around the world. By analysing the current economic factors there is clear evidence that the lack of spending will be influencing trends this coming winter. After several seasons now of over-abundance, elaborateness, eccentricity and feat of artificial over natural I predict there will be a strong desire this coming winter 11 to return to plainness and minimalism. There has already been a bit of focus on “Going Green” and eco-friendly fashion proving itself as a major theme for the next decade and an area where a strong focus and desire to expand lies.
